The Take Our Kids to Work Day Engagement Coordinator (Mat Leave) will be a key player in contributing to The Learning Partnership’s efforts to build future-ready students.

Take Our Kids to Work Day is the most recognized career exploration event in Canada. More than 200,000 Grade 9 students explore their career options and interests through job shadows, office tours, interviews and group activities at thousands of workplaces across Canada. The Take Our Kids to Work Day Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in all elements of the program, while strengthening and deepening relationships among donors, prospects and other stakeholders to support The Learning Partnership’s overall mission. The Take Our Kids to Work Day Engagement Coordinator proactively models a relationship building ethos, helping to transform, expand and advance our longest running program to achieve greater impact as well as maximize fund development opportunities.


Reporting to the National Director, Development, the Take Our Kids to Work Day Engagement Coordinator will be central to expansion and evolution of Take Our Kids to Work Day across Canada. Based in Toronto, they foster The Learning Partnership’s relationships with workplaces, school boards, families and volunteers. They work closely with various team members across numerous departments to ensure program deliverables are met or exceeded while expanding The Learning Partnership supporter-base and revenue streams. 

Take Our Kids to Work Day

  • Ensure all program targets are met or exceeded, contributing to innovative strategies around outreach, registration and resource dissemination.
  • Key contact for all Take Our Kids to Work Day stakeholders across sectors including friendly, reliable and timely communication for all inquiries.
  • Support existing and new revenue-generating models to expand supporter base across diverse businesses; cultivation and stewardship to maximize engagement of current and prospective supporters.
  • Coordinate revision of key program collateral to align with approved strategic plan and relevant trends in order to maximize relevance and impact; coordinates consultation with individual and groups of stakeholders to inform updates.
  • Coordinate new initiatives to expand inclusive engagement for students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in the program.
  • Implement strategies to train and support participating workplaces and prospective workplace participants.
  • Manage staff visits to participating workplaces.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and reporting.
  • Support Marketing & Communications team to increase awareness nationally.
  • Track all correspondence, registration and communication in CRM database as well as all media occurrences across Canada.
  • Other duties, as required.

Stewardship and Cultivation

  • Play a key role in supporting donor outreach and participation across activities, support general and customized communications with donors to inform them of the use of their donation and to update them on news and events.
  • Support the planning and execution of both major and minor donor recognition initiatives.
  • Support the Development team’s donor accountability and reporting schedule as required.
  • Actively participate in the promotion of a culture of philanthropy within The Learning Partnership.
  • Contribute to The Learning Partnership’s fundraising tracking and activity reporting and maintaining current records of all donor activities in database.  

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications)

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of not-for-profit experience, ideally in a fundraising role.
  • Experience managing large projects (Project Management experience is an asset).
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills required to prioritize competing tasks and always meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong telephone etiquette.
  • Exhibits exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments and interact with external stakeholders.
  • Well organized, keen attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.
  • Highly adaptable and able to effectively manage quickly shifting priorities.
  • Works well independently while being a true team player.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), internet research, and Raiser’s Edge or other CRM tools.
