An exciting growth opportunity with an innovative and national education charity! While our offices are in Toronto, remote working arrangement will be possible – the successful candidate can be based anywhere in Canada.  



  • The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing and diversifying our corporate network of champions and funding partnerships at an exciting time of transformation at TLP.
  • Reporting to the National Director of Development, you will be joining a talented and high performing team who cares deeply about advancing public education for Canada’s youngest learners. 
  • Leveraging our inclusive innovation education programs for Grades 1 to 8 in public schools, and national initiatives such as Take Our Kids to Work Day, this role will engage funding partners and champions to ensure support so that Canadian students are prepared with the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) skills and global competencies they need to navigate and thrive in the future. 




  • Lead the expansion and acquisition of new low to mid-level corporate partnerships (approximately $5K to $50K)
  • Develop trust-based relationships with both new corporate prospects and returning partners
  • Engage funding partners and champions at networking events and meetings through delivery of compelling communications and storytelling 
  • Contribute to the design of strategic activations to recognize and grow partnerships (stewardship, turnkey sponsorship opportunities) 
  • Support achieving revenue goals through innovative prospecting at low and mid-level, while identifying partners (and prospects) with potential for expansion 
  • Ensures partner deliverables are met, and exceeded and actively provide regular updates across TLP internal and external stakeholders 
  • Coach and guide other TLP team members to support funding initiatives and targets 




Our ideal candidate is an organized, innovative and exceptionally motivated fundraising professional whose passion to build relationships and strengthen corporate partnerships will shine in our organization. 

  • Minimum of 3 years of relationship or account management, fundraising, partnership development, sales or related experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to secure and grow partnerships and fundraising streams is essential
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills  
  • Strong project and time management abilities required to handle competing demands, prioritize tasks and successfully meet deadlines. 
  • The ability to handle ambiguity and a variety of activities at the same time, while maintaining a calm demeanor, is essential 
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills across senior stakeholders, to cultivate strong partnerships and collaborate across internal and external stakeholders  
  • Experience building successful new strategies and approaches with an innovative mindset is essential
  • Ability to think and act strategically, creatively and dynamically in a small team, high change work environment  
  • Keen attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy 
  • A genuine connection to The Learning Partnership’s mission  
  • Experience in the public education system is an asset 
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office/Microsoft 365. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken French is an asset but not required
